Technology in Dentistry
State-of-the-art dental technology allows
Cosmetic Dentist Dr. Tony Tomaro in Las Vegas, Nevada the ability to deliver the highest quality results to his patients. It allows him to get more accurate and detailed diagnosis and deliver more comfortable, longer-lasting, and more appealing results.
Some of the different types of technology used in the cosmetic dentistry field today include:
- Digital Impressions
- Intraoral Camera
- K-7
- Lasers for soft and hard tissue applications
Digital ImpressionsThis technology employs the use of a small wand that closely resembles an electric toothbrush. The wand is moved over every arch and surface of the patient's teeth, and the images are captured with a camera. A digital image is then created and transmitted to a flat-screen panel. The detailed life-size image can be manipulated to different angles with a finger touch to the screen. The image is then forwarded to our Master Ceramist who uses it to produce a precisely-fitting dental fixture such as a crown or denture.
Intraoral CameraAn intraoral camera is used in combination with a computer monitor. It is designed to take pictures of the outsides of a patient's teeth. If a fracture, chip, crack or other damage is suspected, this technology allows us to show you the actual damage. Often, you may have a damaged tooth but ignore the problem because it doesn't hurt, or you may not even realize the damage exists.
TENS UnitIn cosmetic dentistry procedures, the TENS Unit is used to relax jaw muscles and restore them to their normal resting position allowing us to obtain an accurate diagnosis when testing for malocclusion and
Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMD). The TENS Unit is also used to relieve tension and muscle spasms and aids in muscle extension and relaxation.
K-7The K-7 Evaluation system provides
Dr. Tomaro a means for displaying and storing data obtained from patients who suffer from
TMD and malocclusion. The ability to collect accurate data is paramount in correctly diagnosing and treating these painful conditions.
LasersDental lasers allow our dentists to provide more precision in our patients' procedures. Some lasers are designed to treat soft tissues and some to treat hard tissues. The Diode Soft Tissue Laser is an innovative dental tool that is designed to reshape the gum tissue and enhance your smile by making your teeth appear more balanced. The soft tissue laser can also treat canker sores and fever blisters. Conditions that can be detected and repairs that can be made through the use of lasers include:
- Gummy smiles
- Cold sores
- Tissue Management
