Headaches and Migraines
One of the most
common symptoms described by
Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMD) patients is the regular occurrence of headaches, many of which are extremely severe. In many cases, TMD headaches are commonly diagnosed as migraine.
These headaches can temporarily disable the sufferer to the point where they are unable to work, play or even do any daily functions. They may also make the sufferer ultra sensitive to:
- Bright light
- Sounds, even at low volumes
- Any movement
- Weather conditions
- Stress
A
TMD-headache can have almost identical characteristics as migraine, but it is the result of chronic tension in the jaw. Migraine is medically identified as an illness, not related to the jaw being misaligned.
Although migraine ranks in the top 20 of the world's most disabling medical illnesses and over 30 million Americans (including children) suffer from migraine, many have not found medical relief because they have been misdiagnosed.
There are neuromuscular dentistry tests that can be performed by a neuromuscular dentist to determine whether or not your headache is related to dental issues.
If you or a loved one suffers from migraine-like headaches, take the first step toward relief. Contact our neuromuscular dentist to
